Corsham Institute’s Communities Programme, inspires, instigates and supports practical digital activity to help promote a connected community.

Our projects tell the stories of people and organisations through facilitating community media. We encourage civic engagement through our work with local councils, break down silos between organisations and, through digital activity, strengthen and bring together the physical community. We are also planning a new community digital platform and portal.

Our initial Communities project is set in the greater Corsham area, which includes around 30,000 people across 4 Parish and Town Councils, bordered by the National Trust village of Lacock to the East, Box to the West, Colerne in the North and Neston to the South, with the market town of Corsham in the centre.

Situated in north Wiltshire, 7 miles from Bath on the M4 corridor, Corsham has one of the largest digital footprints in the UK in the form of data centres, cloud services and MOD communications. More details about Corsham’s digital heritage can be found on this link.

Ci's ambition is to benefit the whole community by using Corsham's infrastructure and heritage to improve the lives of all its citizens. We want to build an exemplar of a connected community as a model for other areas to replicate and we welcome discussions with potential partners.
