Getting the most out of digital society

Digital technologies are omnipresent, both in terms of where we are and what we do – in the workplace, at home, in the local community, when purchasing goods, when travelling and across different social interactions.

Such digital technologies are having a profound impact on wider society, as the public increasingly uses them as part of their day-to-day lives.

However, it is important that these technologies make a positive contribution to society and that any potential negative consequences are as limited as possible.

During our Thought Leadership consultation, our discussions examined the societal issues associated with the increasing take-up of new technologies.

We discussed the importance of placing equalities as a central feature of future digital expansion plans.

We explored how the success of digital innovations needs to be measured more in terms of societal value than pure economic profit.
