Head of Fundraising and Marketing

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Location: Hartham Park (in Corsham, Wiltshire) or London, plus flexible working, including working from home. Travel to other locations may be occasionally required (expenses will be covered) 

Type of contract: Permanent, full time

Salary range: £55,000- £60,000 per annum pro rata, depending on experience

Job purpose: To develop and implement the fundraising strategy to enable Corsham Institute to become financially independent and sustainable


Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement the fundraising strategy and 3 year fundraising plan to achieve or exceed our fundraising targets across community, trust, corporate, major donor and digital fundraising 

  • Build relationships with high profile and high net worth individuals as potential donors to the organisation and manage our patron programme

  • Build relationships with charitable trusts, foundations and other institutional funders

  • Write or approve funding applications to charitable trusts, foundations and grant giving bodies

  • Take ownership of our strategic communications and marketing to ensure all our external messaging is consistent with our strategy and supports delivery of our fundraising goals

  • Attend networking events and meetings with potential donors

  • Support the Research Chairs in closing their sponsorship funding from industry partners

  • Prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress and KPIs to the senior leadership team and the trustee board

  • Establish structure, processes, competencies and systems to ensure the Fundraising team is fully equipped to accelerate growth, establish a diversified and sustainable income base

  • As a key member of the senior leadership team, provide leadership to the organisation as a whole, embedding the fundraising culture throughout our work

  • Feed into the development and implementation of the strategic plans of the charity

  • Proven successful experience of developing and implementing fundraising strategy that has accelerated income growth and established a more diversified and sustainable income base

  • Proven experience of successfully leading the development and implementation of a KPI framework and the development of reporting systems in line with the long-term goals of an organisation

  • Understanding of DAFs (Donor Advised Funds) and how to engage with them to achieve funding or support other organisations to set them up

  • Demonstrable ability to understand how digital strategies can successfully support fundraising

  • Proven experience of establishing and successfully growing new income streams and developing new fundraising products 

  • Proven experience of establishing long term corporate partnerships that have provided the basis for income, the promotion of a charity’s services and enhancement of brand (or transferable experience from the commercial sector)
